And all the ISI fan boys fall for it too. "The most realistic driving experience yet, as proven by REAL race drivers". Quote from KiDCoDEa :yay for the tri-monthly ISI engine reash game!Īnd the thing is, all the ISI games are announced as besides being best effort on isi engine, it was done officially in 1 day without any "interest" whatsoever by isi team. still havent lost that wonderful under the table touch eh? (f12002>gtr) at least they requested a n2003 guy to "make" it. Oh and good effort by isi by providing a first day mod to their substandard lfs-meets-racer project, named f3, skipping any copyrights or licenses. Some talent existed in that art team indeed but what good is a pearl in a bucket of shit? still smells.Īll i can say is blimey, i hope nkpro is better competition than all that isi crapload including that LFS meets RACER project which is rcraptor. simbin does know how to rape a good copyright under the table but they do disguise them preety well. they just wanna rush it out like they did gtl and move on to what next gen they wanna do. and blimey still has to make gtr2 a simbin product while knowing the fame will go to simbin. Gtl is obviously a rushed out product and cut in half. they did improve some car data inputed to the same good old physics engine but other than that it show its limitations in every disguise it might take. Generally speaking, if u find a bug in one of those u can be sure it happens in the next. they dont pump out a dif sim every 3 months out of alien efficiency. no wonder he got out of papy, wtf was that hype build to nsr? wtf? I thought nsr was the ubber pinaccle of isi engines as bob stanley and rsc put it. The skin changes the crap underneath doesnt. Yay for the tri-monthly ISI engine reash game! Don't get this wrong, I don't want to say one or the other is better, it's just a different kind of tastes, and you know, you can't argue about tastes. Some people prefer the immersion (like you?), which on the first look is better in GTR/GTL/rFactor and takes way more time to develop in LFS, while others (like me) prefer the plausible action-reaction model and the purist simulation in general. It may also be a different set of priorities. I don't want to say LFS is perfect in every way, but if you don't notice the immediate difference between simulation (LFS) and a big compilation of data curves (any game based on ISI engine) then there's no point trying to explain it. And yes, that was after I hacked all files to remove the remaining AIDs. In the GTL demo the cars reaction mostly put a big "WTF" on my forehead. Also whenever I do something in LFS, I understand the reaction of the car, and I understand what I did wrong when the reaction was negative for my laptime. The most important feel, namely the 'connected to road' feel is completely missing. The only thing I feel in GTL is a crapload of canned FF effects. Fortunately, if the block comes with a price, there will be a bright green tag in the corner. There’s no way to filter it to only show free CAD block downloads. Be aware, however, that the page includes free and paid blocks. If you’re not interested in paying, CAD Blocks is your destination. At the top of the page, you’ll be able to select CAD Blocks or Premium Models. As with the previous entry on our list, you don’t have to make an account to take advantage of what’s on offer here.Ĭad-block offers a wide variety of free blocks and premium blocks (which as the name suggests, come with a price tag). If using an earlier version of AutoCAD, you may experience issues with file compatibility. To work with the blocks on offer, cad-block recommends you use AutoCAD 2007 and later. This means you might encounter issues with varying units, scales and so on. We’d like to remind users, however, that many of the sites on our list- included-contain blocks that are uploaded by other users. This resource offers architects, engineers and designers a way to find new and high-quality projects and models. Next on our list is the similarly named. And, with its handy previews, you can see everything on offer with each block download without having to wait until you actually download. It’s safe to say that, given the thorough nature of cad-blocks, you’ll find something that catches your fancy. Then, in no time at all, you’ll have 427 CAD blocks at your disposal. If you like the look of tree plan CAD blocks, for example, it’s as simple as clicking “download”. When you select a collection, e.g., vegetation, you’ll be met with further sub-sections like color trees, trees elevation, and so on. Blocks are sorted into collection categories that include furniture, vegetation, kitchen equipment, and signals, amongst many others. Not only are the blocks here free to download, but another great advantage is that registration isn’t required. Knowing that compatibility can be an issue for users with older software versions, cad-blocks has made it clear that all blocks are compatible with AutoCAD 2004 to the latest release. So, what’s on offer? Thousands of DWG files for use in AutoCAD and other popular architecture. While the site itself isn’t that sleek or modern, it doesn’t take away from how useful it is as a resource for free blocks. With this site, what you see is what you get. Rather than addressing the pricing issue with customers or finding a way to appease their angry customers, Netflix made matters worse by splitting the DVD and Streaming businesses into two separate entities, requiring customers who wanted both services to maintain two accounts, one for the DVD service (the short-lived Qwikster) and the other for the streaming service. "When you have a brand that consumers have a good relationship with - and Netflix was certainly one of those - consumers take a ton of flesh if you betray them." "Netflix is the latest poster child for what happens when you aggravate consumers," said Tobe Berkovitz, professor of advertising at Boston University. Netflix, a company that could do no wrong up until this summer, seems to have heard those customers loud and clear after its second blunder. "By separating them, Netflix would have allowed Apple ( AAPL, Fortune 500) and Blockbuster to compete with each portion of its business separately."įor consumers, the Qwikster spin-off would have been a royal pain: Customers would have needed to maintain two separate accounts on two different websites. "Netflix has a major leg up on its competition, because it offers library titles via streaming and any title with a two-day delay through the mail," said Brett Harriss, analyst at Gabelli & Co. It also would have eroded a competitive advantage. (Netflix doesn't break out those statistics in its earnings releases). Shares of Netflix ( NFLX) rose by as much as 10% following the news, before turning negative in the afternoon.įor investors, the problem with spinning off the DVD-by-mail service is that it accounts for between one-third and one-half of the company's overall sales, depending on which analyst you ask. "There is a difference between moving quickly - which Netflix has done very well for years - and moving too fast, which is what we did in this case." "Consumers value the simplicity Netflix has always offered and we respect that," Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings said. Netflix issued its second mea culpa in as many months, acknowledging the consumer outrage about its Qwikster announcement. members will continue to use one website, one account and one password for their movie and TV watching enjoyment under the Netflix brand," the company said in a statement. 18 that the company's movies-by-mail service would be rebranded as Qwikster and would add video games to its catalog, while the Netflix brand would be dedicated to streaming video. personnel, but he agreed to the move once he learned he would be working with the same R&B promotion department. At first, Roger was hesitant because of his familiarity with the Warner Bros. Label president Lenny Waronker and chairman Mo Ostin wanted to relaunch Warner's sister label Reprise Records, which had been dormant for several years, and they told Roger that "I Want to Be Your Man" would be a "perfect opening act" to bring the label back. However, executives at his label, Warner Brothers, loved the song. Roger disliked "I Want to Be Your Man" when it was completed and thought it served as album filler, at best. It was so good, there was no need to take it out." Release and chart performance Roger recalled her being in the studio one day while he was recording his vocals: "There was a spot in the song where there was a hole and I asked her to do something. Larry Troutman recommended Nicole Cottom, a friend of his daughter, to help sing background vocals. After he finished layering tracks, if he didn't like the result he had to scrap everything and start over. To layer six-part harmonies, he spoke the lyric while playing a melody line then rewound the tape and repeated the process for the harmonizing part while playing together with the previously recorded one. According to Roger, he had never mixed his "human" voice with the talk box before, and recording the vocals was tedious because he could only play one note at a time on the vocoder. "I Want to Be Your Man" is a ballad featuring Roger's vocals filtered through a vocoder. I talked to him about what I was trying to say and one thing led to another. We sat in the hotel room one day and wrote the song. "Women want us to admit that we don't want to commit." Troutman took the idea and began working on a track similar in style to " Computer Love," a 1986 hit for his band Zapp. "Guys have trouble committing and women want us to commit," he explained to authors Adam White and Fred Bronson. Roger Troutman developed "I Want to Be Your Man" around the theme of romantic commitment. "I Want to Be Your Man" was covered by Charlie Wilson and Fantasia in 2010. The 2002 single " Down 4 U" by Irv Gotti featuring Ja Rule, Ashanti, Vita, and Charli Baltimore contains interpolations of the song. It has been featured in films such as 2000's Love & Basketball and has been sampled by numerous R&B and hip hop artists. Internationally, the song reached number nine in the Netherlands, number 15 in Germany, number 18 in New Zealand, and number 27 in Canada. The song topped the Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart and peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, his highest as lead artist and second highest overall. "I Want to Be Your Man" features Roger singing in both his natural tenor and his trademark talk box. The song was co-written by Roger's brother, Larry Troutman, and produced by Roger, who conceived of the song as a statement on romantic commitment. It was released as the lead single from the album in September 1987 by Reprise Records. " I Want to Be Your Man" is a song by American funk singer-songwriter Roger Troutman, from his third studio album Unlimited!. Creator Harriet Warner stuffs in so many things, several of which remain unanswered, no doubt held for a Season 2 that might never come. “Tell Me Your Secrets” Courtesy of Amazon StudiosĪnd those are just the main plot points. But the plotline becomes so movie of the week as to undo everything before it. A divergence to visit his estranged sister hints at the man desperate to not have his crimes immediately destroy his relationships. His cold, affectless manner has been done by other onscreen serial killers, but there’s a bizarre warmth to him. Linklater, to his credit, is incredibly unsettling. On top of that, Mary starts to associate with a man named John Tyler (Hamish Linklater), a rapist who claims to have suppressed his urges and wishes to atone for his crimes in order to find out where Karen is living. In her mad drive to get at the truth Mary does terrible things they feel so grandiose as to be unrelatable. Though considering how the series utilizes Black characters - as either victims for white characters to avenge or as set dressing to avoid questions of how a Southern town is all-white - this isn’t given much additional nuance.īrenneman certainly gets a meaty role, but it too often devolves into scheming and Machiavellian manipulation. There’s also the added element of how white victims and their mothers are valued higher over victims of color. Mary becomes upset when another mother, whose daughter is dead and is thus an “official” victim, is asked to do an interview over her. Mary and her son, Jake (Elliot Fletcher) run a charity foundation in daughter Theresa’s name, and part of Mary’s desire to keep her daughter alive is paralleled by media attention. Before the character becomes a rampaging angel of death, Brenneman does try to ground the character in a reality we haven’t necessarily seen before she is a mother who staunchly refuses to grieve or entertain the notion her daughter is dead, and the distinction the script makes is how lucrative the “mother on a mission” narrative is to the participants. Mary is the first character we meet, grilling Karen about “her man” taking her child. “Tell Me Your Secrets” Courtesy of Amazon StudiosĪn additional concept that works on paper but doesn’t necessarily bear fruit in the finished storyline is that of Mary Barlow and her quest for justice for her daughter. Is Karen being honest when she claims she doesn’t know about the murders? Is she lying? Is there a natural tendency to disbelieve women whose lovers are bad? Considering the spate of accusations against male abusers in Hollywood, and the media’s tendency to grill their former girlfriends and wives, this holds promise as a storyline. Karen is a puzzle and the series posits the question of whether we prosecute women whose boyfriends do bad things too harshly. Rabe, who’s made star-making turns before - in the works of Ryan Murphy, for example - continues to prove why she’s so magnetic and engaging. That being said, Lily Rabe as Karen/Emma is fantastic. It’s unclear why TNT decided to forego airing the series, or if they even saw any of the footage - but this definitely feels like a show that has been sitting somewhere for three years. The series sat until 2020 when Amazon picked it up for release in 2021. The show filmed in 2018 only to have TNT back out of the deal. “Tell Me Your Secrets” has an interesting history it was originally sold to TNT back in 2017 in the hopes of revitalizing that network’s lineup. But when a young girl named Jess (Emyri Crutchfield) whom Emma befriends disappears Karen/Emma starts to reluctantly embroil herself in a new mystery that unravels the secrets of her past. When Karen is offered an opportunity to start over as part of the Witness Protection Program, she takes it, is given a new name, Emma Hall, and settles into the Southern town of St. Amazon Prime Video Already Has a Leg Up on Netflix and Disney+ in the Ad Game For all other Volume License upgrade options, please contact Luxion directly. Not all 9mm Luger ammunition has the same amount of taper. Nosedive is less problematic in double column magazines, but it depends on specific magazine designs. Even straight-walled cartridges nosedive, but cartridge taper makes it worse. Nosedive is an inherent problem in most single stack magazines. A tapered cartridge exacerbates nosedive, and the more a cartridge nosedives, the more likely it will cause a feeding malfunction. This causes the bullet nose to hit low on the feed ramp and at a more perpendicular angle. Nosedive occurs when the nose of the cartridge cams downward while being pushed forward out of the magazine during feeding. Taper increases a problematic behavior called nosedive. The straight-walled 9mm Automatic produces no gap. But when the cartridges are placed along side their peers, the shape of the 9mm Luger's taper becomes obvious by producing a gap between the rounds at the case neck. The difference in the shape of the case is not obvious, because the 9mm Luger's taper is slight. This figure shows a prototype 9mm Automatic cartridge along with a 9mm Luger cartridge. It is a potent cartridge for its size and offers good performance with well-designed bullets.īut the cartridge has a troubling flaw: it's tapered. The 9mm Luger has become especially popular for small, compact carry guns intended for self-defense. Frank Barnes (2006) notes that it is the most widely used cartridge in the United States. It is chambered in handguns, submachine guns and rifles, and is the standard NATO round for handguns. Since then, the 9mm Luger - also known as the 9mm Parabellum, 9X19, 9mm NATO or just the 9mm - has become one of the most popular cartridges on the planet. It has been flawed since its development around 1902 by Georg Luger for his famous Luger pistol. |
